about

Mission

We believe that music is universal and brings people together.
We believe that learning new things is inherently fun.
We believe that kids learn through play and use language as a means to be part of the game.
And finally, we believe that when you bring people together through positive, ridiculously fun musical activities, you can change the world.

BASHO & friends creates that place where young people can explore languages, cultures, and learning through ridiculously fun music, videos, and interactive games. Starting out in 2009 with one simple CD in Spanish, this mission driven group of educators has surged forward – with 4 available albums in 4 distinct languages and close to a dozen videos – as a powerful force in the world of children’s educational entertainment. And with the upcoming release of interactive iPhone and iPad apps focused on new language acquisition, BASHO & friends has laid the groundwork for what will soon become the go-to site on the mobile web for kids of all ages to learn about what they have in common with their neighbors – around the corner and around the world.

BASHO & friends is a musical ride through your everyday life: the food you eat, the places you go, the people in your family, and the things you find important. We create a ridiculously fun space for you to experience new cultures, learn new languages, and build the skills you need to be an active participant in our increasingly global community. BASHO & friends is connecting the world one beat at a time

Favorite childhood musical memory:  I learned a song about the donut shop when I was about 3 1/2 at preschool and sang that song to death.  It was my very first song by memory and I actually recently dug it up.  Have a listen!
