New Album Coming Soon - An Invitation To Live Fully
“A Way to Be” is Basho's musical vision about how we can all be - with ourselves, each other, and the world.

Music has always been more than entertainment in my life—it's been a vehicle for connection, learning, and emotional expression. When I began creating "A Way to Be," I wanted to craft songs that would not only delight kids and families but also plant seeds of empathy, resilience, and curiosity.
An Invitation, Not a Prescription
The title "A Way to Be" was carefully chosen. It's not "The Way to Be" because I believe in offering children pathways rather than prescriptions. Each song opens a door to conversation about values like kindness, asking for help, and building community—without dictating how these values must look in every child's life.
In "All It Takes Is a Friend," we explore how friendship can transform difficult moments. The lyrics about feeling alone with "heavy feet" and thoughts that are "way too loud" acknowledge children's emotional realities while offering hope through connection. When creating this song, I wanted to validate that everyone feels lonely sometimes, while suggesting that reaching out can change everything.
The Musical Journey
Working with talented collaborators like John Alevizakis has enriched this project beyond measure. We've spent countless hours ensuring the music itself—not just the lyrics—supports each song's message. The upbeat tempo of "Express Yourself" encourages physical movement and self-expression, while the gentle melody of "Big Feelings" creates a safe space for emotional exploration.
The process hasn't been without challenges. Finding the right musical language for complex concepts like emotional regulation or community building required many revisions. Some songs transformed completely from their initial demos as we tested them with young listeners and observed their responses.
Looking Forward: A Multilingual Vision
While "A Way to Be" begins its life in English, I'm thrilled to be preparing Spanish versions of these songs for release later this year. Music transcends language barriers, but offering children songs in multiple languages opens additional cognitive and cultural doorways.
Learning language through music activates different neural pathways than conventional study. The rhythm, repetition, and emotional connection in songs make them perfect vehicles for language acquisition. My hope is that these translations will serve both native Spanish speakers and children learning Spanish as a second language.
Join Us on This Journey
As we prepare to release the first singles from "A Way to Be," I invite you to join this musical journey. Whether you're a parent, educator, or someone who believes in the power of music to shape young minds, there's a place for you in this community.
Music isn't just something we consume—it's something we experience together. These songs were created to be sung, danced to, discussed, and lived. They're most powerful when they extend beyond listening time into everyday moments of connection.
I can't wait to share these songs with you and to hear how they resonate in your homes, classrooms, and communities. This is just the beginning of our journey together.
